Vivian Maier was one of Chicago’s great artists. She lived much of her life in Rogers Park where she set out each day with her Rolleiflex camera to capture images of the city and its citizens. Unrecognized in her own time, she saw the city through a lens that was all her own. In her photos the grandeur of mundane details and the dignity of everyday people—a perspective most of us never see—are revealed. Bravely feminist, relentlessly creative, and more than a little eccentric, her life and work inspired our renovation. We’re proud to honor her name.
